Episode 25 - Jeff Schroeder
In this week's episode, we had the pleasure of catching up with our good friend and founder of Cattle.com, Jeff Schroeder. Jeff shares the history behind and creation story of Cattle.com, as well as his brainchild of videoing the bulls at Denver (we helped last year!). Episode 24 - Galen Fink
This week we caught up with Galen Fink, of Fink Beef Genetics, after his annual fall bull sale. Galen sold 257 Angus & Charolais bulls with an all-video sale format, and they averaged over $4,000. He also tells us about his exclusive three year guarantee on the bulls he sells. The Finks are a great family with a tremendous program in Randolph, KS. Check it out!
All-Video Sales: From the Customer
This week we interviewed Wes Williamson, who runs about 9,000 head of cattle throughout the south and southeastern United States, about his perspective on buying cattle (specifically bulls) at an all-video sale. This is an interesting conversation for anyone who is wondering if their customers are effected, positively or negatively, by utilizing an all-video sale instead of running cattle through the ring. This week we talk with Jim Williams of the famous V8 Ranch about what makes up a great female. Jim, a fellow Aggie and well known cattle judge, has been instrumental in raising some of the best Brahman females that have ever been around.

Episode 19 - Gary Golden of Hubble & Hudson
This week we visited our local beef retailer, Hubble & Hudson and spoke with the Meat & Seafood Manager, Gary Golden. Gary explained to us the in's and out's of their meat retail product: Certified Angus Beef product, dry-aged product, and specialty meats (e.g. bison, duck, lamb, etc). We explain what this high-end retailer has to do with YOUR commercial or purebred herd and why Gary's business is important to YOUR business.
Episode 18 - Dr. Scott Myers
This week we traveled to Granbury, TX to visit with Dr. Scott Myers - Aggie, Artist, and Veterinarian. He's been commissioned to design the Dr. Howard Hesby Student Atrium in the Kleberg Center at Texas A&M University, and he shares his vision for that project. In addition, he tells us his background, what his influences are in his art, and some of his favorite projects. He's a pretty neat guy, and we hope you enjoy learning about him in this week's episode.

This week we had a first: our first SKYPE blog! We skyped with Brian Bledsoe, meteorologist at KKTV in Colorado Springs. He's a specialist in long-range forecast models and he explains a little about the conditions we're experiencing around the country and how it will impact our industry. Please be patient with the audio, because of the way we had to record the Skype conversation, it may be off in some places with the video. We're new at Skype! Enjoy episode 17!

This week, while at Beef Cattle Short Course 2011, we had the extreme honor and privilege to interview Dr. Temple Grandin of Colorado State University. Not only has Dr. Grandin revolutionized handling of commercial livestock and improved retail packer operations, she also has been a pioneer and advocate for autism. We were thrilled to be able to have a moment with her to discuss her experiences and her suggestions for beef cattle producers.
